Road Construction Is Dangerous Business
Road construction is dangerous business. Construction workers, in this particular field, work around and with heavy equipment, while often in cramped spaces to allow for roads to remain open to the public. Unfortunately, work-related accidents are a common occurrence in this line of work in Connecticut and elsewhere — some of which have fatal consequences.
Recently, a long-time town employee was killed in a tragic accident. The 50-year-old male was apparently hit by a dump truck at a road construction site where he was filling pot holes. According to reports, the victim was flown to an area hospital for treatment, but he died shortly after his arrival.
This accident occurred in a relatively small town just outside of Hartford. It is unknown if any charges will be filed against anyone involved in the incident. Connecticut State Police are still in the process of investigating. Anyone who may have seen the accident is asked to please share any information they can with authorities.
While this terrible loss has left a community in shock, no one feels it more than the victim’s surviving family members. As this accident occurred while the victim was working, his family can seek workers’ compensation death benefits in an effort to relieve the financial stress this loss of life has, undoubtedly, created. As with most workers’ compensation benefits, insurance companies may not offer a fair and full payout. Legal assistance is available to help family members of construction workers in Connecticut seek and receive the maximum amount of compensation possible for their loved ones’ deaths.
