Connecticut Motor Vehicle Accidents Happen Every Day.

June 19, 2014 General

The unfortunate truth about individuals navigating Connecticut roadways is that motor vehicle accidents happen every day. Pedestrian accidents are some of the most potentially severe types of accidents. They can lead to severe bodily injury, lifelong impairment or even death. Recently, three pedestrians were seriously injured following an accident in Newington.

The driver of a pickup truck reportedly hit three pedestrians recently as they made their way across the street. According the report, the driver dragged them a short distance and continued driving. The two female victims and a young boy were taken to an area hospital and treated for serious, but non life-threatening injuries.

Reportedly, the truck’s driver attempted to drive away after the collision but was stopped by another motorist. The driver of the apparent hit and run ran collided with a van that the other motorist used to block the path of the fleeing truck. Though the pickup driver attempted to get around the van, the other driver pulled him from the truck and had him assist with the injured pedestrians. The victims reportedly suffered from cuts and broken bones.

While Connecticut pedestrian accidents can lead to severe consequences for those injured, the victims in this accident were fortunate enough to survive. They have the right to file a personal injury claim against the driver of the pickup truck, seeking financial relief for the medical bills associated with the treatment of their injuries. Any conviction secured against the truck driver in criminal court may serve as evidence of liability in a civil case based upon the same accident.
