Connecticut Man Was Reportedly Killed While Working in Danbury

May 19, 2015 General

In mid-May, a Connecticut man was reportedly killed while working in Danbury. Sadly, work accidents such as this are far more common that most like to think. It is likely that his death has had a deep impact on his surviving family members.

Recently, police were called to the scene of an auto-pedestrian accident at a garbage truck transfer station. The victim, a 58-year-old, was working when he was struck by the truck. He reportedly died at the scene. The truck was operated by a 46-year-old man, though it is not yet clear exactly what occurred to cause the accident.

Law enforcement officials and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are still investigating this incident. Anyone who witnessed the tragedy is encouraged to step forward with any information that may prove helpful in resolving this case. At this time, it is unknown if any charges are pending against the driver deemed responsible for this accident or the victim’s employer.

Fatal work accidents can and, typically, do have long-reaching effects. For instance, the victim’s family is surely emotionally traumatized by this accident. Moreover, the financial losses that will be experienced as a direct result of his death can be devastating. The decedent’s loved ones may be entitled to workers’ compensation death benefits through his employer, and may also benefit from pursuing other legal remedies in order to seek compensation — if appropriate. Connecticut residents who find themselves in similar circumstances may seek assistance to help determine the best courses of action to pursue as they seek justice and monetary relief for their losses.
