September 13, 2018 General

Brown Paindiris & Scott, with offices in Glastonbury and Hartford, is pleased to announce the addition of Attorney April Arrasate as Of Counsel to the firm.

April will use her success and legal experience in the medicinal cannabis industry to provide guidance on the full spectrum of legal issues surrounding this novel area of law. The Firm’s Medical Marijuana Practice group will cover a full range of practice areas serving the legal needs of the current medical marijuana community. Attorney Arrasate will also continue to be engaged in advising and counseling Connecticut legislators regarding the myriad of legal issues related to proposals to legalize recreational use of marijuana in the State.

Ms. Arrasate’s success in navigating the medical and recreational marijuana application processes has led to the acquisition of permits to cultivate, process and dispense marijuana in several states, including Connecticut. In addition to her local experience in the operation of a production facility, she has worked with legislatures, boards and commissions nationally and internationally to create and implement cannabis programs, as well as to educate the community regarding the legal issues inherent in those programs.

Ms. Arrasate is Founder and Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Medical Marijuana Committee and a member of the Connecticut, Florida and South Carolina Bar Associations. She is a Cum Laude graduate of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California, where she served on the Law Review. Prior to beginning her legal career, Ms. Arrasate worked in the biotech arena and in the field of pharmaceutical synthesis with Genzyme and with Harvard Medical School’s Channing Laboratory. Attorney Arrasate has also practiced in the areas of family law, personal injury, real estate and construction litigation.
