Connecticut crash involving an allegedly stolen vehicle
When motor vehicle crashes happen, injured victims may be left with many questions. They may wonder if their actions somehow led to the collision or if there was anything they might have been able to do differently that could have prevented what happened. However, many times, car accidents are the sole responsibility of one negligent driver. This is what authorities are saying in regard to a recent car crash here in Connecticut involving an allegedly stolen vehicle that left seven people injured.
Authorities report that the accident happened on a recent afternoon after a man allegedly stole his neighbor’s car. They claim that he was traveling at a high rate of speed and passing other cars in an area where he was not supposed to do so. Police say he struck a van that was exiting the Interstate. The van was knocked onto its side, injuring all seven occupants — two adults and five children.
All of van’s occupants had to be rushed to a local hospital for treatment for their injuries. The driver of the alleged stolen car was also taken to a hospital with serious injuries. At this time, there is no word on whether the driver of the supposed stolen car will face any charges.
Car accidents like these may seem particularly troubling if there was indeed any illegal activity that may have contributed to the crash. No matter the outcome of any potential criminal charges, the Connecticut families of the injured victims may decide to pursue a civil claim against the driver of the purported stolen vehicle. If a claim of this nature was successfully litigated, it could result in monetary remuneration for the victims that could be useful in covering medical expenses or other costs they may have incurred from the crash.
