Press Release: Attorney Guarnieri Honored as Connecticut “New Leader in the Law” by the Connecticut Law Tribune

HARTFORD, Connecticut (December 6, 2016) – Attorney Cody N. Guarnieri, an associate with the law firm of Brown, Paindiris & Scott, LLP, was selected and awarded by the Connecticut Law Tribune as one of the “New Leaders in the Law” for 2016, which ceremony took place in November. Attorney Guarnieri was one of thirty-seven attorney selected after a thorough review of attorneys nominated throughout the state. Of the selectees, Attorney Guarnieri is the only attorney that practices in both criminal defense and professional license defense. Applicants were judged in four categories: development of the law; advocacy/community contributions; service to the bar; and peer/public recognition.

Cody Guarnieri is a member of the Litigation Department in the Hartford office of Brown, Paindiris & Scott, LLP. His practice focuses on professional and trade license defense, contested cases before administrative agencies, criminal defense and medical malpractice. He has represented individuals facing license contests and other administrative issues before the Department of Insurance, the Department of Banking, the Board of Nursing Examiners, the Board of Medical Examiners, the Department of Consumer Protection, the Department of Social Services (including the Department of Developmental Services), the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Department of Children and Families, the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Connecticut and has assisted in College and University administrative hearings. In criminal defense matters he represents adults and juveniles accused of crimes in federal and state courts, including domestic violence crimes, DUI, possession and sale of controlled substances, breach of peace and threatening, manslaughter and violent crimes, sexual assaults, larcenies and embezzlement as well as infractions.

Attorney Guarnieri is a Presidential Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Association and on the executive board of the Criminal Justice Section. He is a member of the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Connecticut Trial Lawyer’s Association, the National Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Hartford County Bar Association. Attorney Guarnieri has spoken on topics in Criminal Law, including Pretrial Diversionary Programs in Connecticut, before the Connecticut Bar Association and Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Attorney Guarnieri has also been designated as a “Rising Star” since 2015 by Connecticut Super Lawyers and is Lead Counsel Rated in State and Federal Criminal Law. Cody is a past-President of the Hartford Rotary Club as well as sits on the Executive Board of the South Windsor Democratic Town Committee.
