An Off-duty Police Lieutenant Was Injured in a Car Crash on North Frontage Road on Sept. 18

An off-duty police lieutenant was injured in a car crash on North Frontage Road on Sept. 18. The female lieutenant was waiting in traffic at 11:20 p.m. when she was rear-ended at the intersection of Dwight Street and North Frontage Road by a 42-year-old male driver. The impact of the crash forced the lieutenant’s car into the vehicle in front of her.

According to reports, the driver of the vehicle that initiated the crash was intoxicated at the time of the crash. The male was hostile with police and refused a field sobriety test. The driver later also refused a blood alcohol test at police headquarters. He has been charged with driving under the influence, traveling too fast for conditions and following too closely.

The lieutenant was treated at a local hospital and later released.
