Hartford man injured in police vehicle crash

A 50-year-old Hartford man suffered serious injuries July 13 when a police car struck his Chevy Cavalier during the pursuit of an unrelated suspect, according to police. The victim was hospitalized in serious condition at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. The police officer involved in the crash sustained minor injuries; he was treated and then released from the hospital.

The police were chasing a suspect when the car accident occurred at the intersection of Albany Avenue and Woodland Street in Hartford. The pursuit ended when the suspect's vehicle crashed into a fence bordering a front yard along Homestead Avenue, leading to the suspect's arrest.

Charges against the man include engaging police in a pursuit, reckless driving, evading responsibility, second-degree reckless endangerment, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and operating under suspension. He may be held liable for the 50-year-old man's injuries.

While the accident investigation continues, the serious injuries resulting from this car accident underline the importance of fully determining liability and possible personal injury compensation. If you've been injured because of another person's negligent or reckless actions, you deserve proper representation to ensure necessary medical care and personal injury reimbursement for pain and suffering. After all, the consequences of a serious accident can be long-lasting and quite severe.

The chief of police in Hartford said the police vehicle's collision with the 1996 Cavalier would be investigated with assistance from the Connecticut State Police and Connecticut State's Attorney's Office. The chief went on to extend his best wishes for the accident victim's speedy recovery.
