Class Action

Recently Brown Paindiris & Scott settled a class action against the State of Connecticut in the total amount of $400,000, on behalf of a class of approximately 160 retired state employees.

The basis of the class action was that the state retiree certified class members, upon reaching disability retirement status, were wrongfully denied collectively bargained for health care premiums if they maintained their worker's compensation eligibility.

As a result of the settlement, approximately 160 state retirees were reimbursed for most of such wrongfully withheld benefits.
