Richard F. Piotrowski, the former Deputy Commissioner of the state Department of Public Works, represented by Attorney Richard R. Brown, was recently spared prison when he was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge Peter C. Dorsey to two years' probation and ordered to pay $2,100 to cover the cost of one of those years of supervision. Dorsey also ordered Piotrowski to perform 150 hours of community service. Piotrowski was accused of making two false statements to FBI and IRS agents investigating corruption during the administration of former Gov. John G. Rowland. Piotrowski is the most recent of several Rowland administration figures to be sentenced on corruption charges.
