The attorneys at Brown Paindiris & Scott offer a wealth of experience in the areas of criminal and juvenile law in both the state and federal courts of Connecticut. Our defense attorneys have daily contact with prosecutors and judges, and we work hard to get the best results possible for our clients when they are confronted with a criminal or motor vehicle prosecution.
Our attorneys represent clients charged with all crimes, including public corruption, from the most serious felonies to DUI and other serious motor vehicle violations. We are intimately familiar with the various diversionary programs (Pretrial Accelerated Rehabilitation, the Alcohol Education Program, Youthful Offender, etc.) available to many of our clients who find themselves in the criminal justice system. Most of these programs enable us to not only obtain a dismissal of our client's case under certain circumstances, but also the erasure of all records of arrest and prosecution.
Our criminal law department is headed by Attorney Richard R. Brown, recognized as one of the most respected criminal defense attorneys in Connecticut. Attorney Brown, who began his career in criminal law as a prosecutor, has been engaged in the practice of criminal defense law for over thirty years. Our criminal lawyers have more than 80 years of combined experience representing our clients in every court in Connecticut.
Brown Paindiris & Scott provides all clients, new and old, with a free consultation in order to properly evaluate their criminal case.
Juvenile Law
The Juvenile Law department at Brown, Paindiris & Scott practices primarily in the areas of juvenile criminal defense in juvenile courts statewide. The firm also handles school disciplinary matters, including suspensions and expulsions, which affect students of all ages.
In Connecticut, the juvenile criminal justice system and primary and secondary educational systems work together when a juvenile is either arrested or placed under investigation by local authorities. Our lawyers protect the rights of juvenile defendants and their parents from the initial stage, where the police begin their investigation, until such time as court and school proceeding are concluded. This representation includes, but is not limited to, acting as a liaison between the police and the client, acting in the same capacity with school officials seeking to suspend/expel juvenile clients, negotiating with prosecutors, presenting hearings before juvenile judges and school board(s) of education and all other matters relative to this area.
