Attorney Christopher J. McCarthy joined the firm in 1990 as an associate, was elected partner in 1998, and elevated to a senior partner in January of 2007.

 

Attorney McCarthy’s practice is concentrated in the areas of Connecticut criminal law and civil litigation. 

 

His criminal law practice involves cases in state courts, federal courts and juvenile criminal courts across the State of Connecticut.  This practice also includes administrative hearings before local boards and state agencies, including the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), Department of Children and Families (DCF) and he regularly handles matters before boards governing the licenses of teachers, nurses and physicians.  He also handles matters before the State of Connecticut Board of Pardons and Paroles and the State of Connecticut Board of Firearms Permit Examiners.

 

Additionally, Attorney McCarthy handles juvenile criminal cases, operating under the influence cases (DWI), marijuana possession and narcotics offenses in the, and state and federal burglary, larceny and assault cases. Sex offenses and white collar criminal cases are areas of particular emphasis for Attorney McCarthy.

 

In the area of civil litigation, Attorney McCarthy focuses on foreclosures and commercial litigation for several of Connecticut’s largest banking institutions. He also handles landlord-tenant disputes on behalf of landlords, as well as a variety of personal injury cases, including auto accidents, slip and falls, work-related injuries and wrongful death cases.

 

Attorney McCarthy is admitted to practice in Connecticut and Massachusetts, as well as the United States District Courts for the districts of Connecticut and Massachusetts.  He is also admitted to practice before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association and Hartford County Bar Association, as well as the Connecticut Trial Lawyer Association and the Connecticut Criminal Defense Attorneys Association.
